Hi, I’m Ryan Wilmot!
I have had the joy of being a professional safari guide and luxury Safari camp manager for the past 17 years, which has allowed me to live, work and travel in some of the most diverse, remote, wildlife rich landscapes Africa has to offer.
I went to University to become a teacher and ended up with a post-graduate degree in Nature Conservation from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. I majored in conservation biology and environmental education. This is the foundation to a deep understanding of the natural environment and our place in it.
I love living life to the full, wherever and whenever I can, and I get the most enjoyment and satisfaction from sharing it with others whilst facing the myriad interesting scenarios and challenges along the way… awkward, painful, funny, but ultimately enlightening. I feel as though I have travelled the world through the myriad of amazing people I have met along the way.
I value wild spaces and the people I have come to know while exploring natures greatest spectacles. I treat what I have learned about the environment, including humans, as a science that I continuously question and build on for deeper meaning and better understanding.
I have worked with and featured on the BBC’s Earth’s Wildest Waters , guided the international president of the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), professional photographers such as David Yarrow and many more amazing people that have contributed to who and where I am today. I am eternally thankful to all who have been part of my own personal Safari.
